Things are cruising along and can't believe that the summer is quickly going by! I had my first summer convention this last weekend in Fort Collins and am in the final check and restock stages for NDK over Labor Day weekend. My last post, I shared my Crystal Courtyard terrarium based on the Final Fantasy video game series and in this post, I'm sharing Fields of the Valley, my terrarium based on the Stardew Valley video game. I'm very proud of this piece and all the others I painted for the series. I now have six in total, with this being the latest piece. I can't believe how much my gouache skills have improved in the last five years when I look at the six pieces I painted in about 6 to 8 weeks this year verses the ones I painted in 2019. It's sometimes hard to see the progress but rewarding once you do! I don't know if I'll paint any additional pieces for this series as I always just like to do the things that interest and excite me and not what I think others would want to buy specifically. Maybe I hamstring myself in terms of sales because of that, but I don't want to work on something I'm not interested in. I think it shows in my pieces when I do. If you happen to be at NDK come find me in the Artist Alley! I'm glad to see the lotto gods smiled on me and let me have a second year in a row there. I got this piece and the other five in the series for sale as a 5"x7" print set as well as some new earring designs, stickers, and my last two years worth of sword designs in a perfect bound art book! I'm very proud of the art book as well as it has been a labor of love to get it put together and printed and I couldn't be more tickled about it.
