Hello everyone! I can't believe we're already into the second month of the new year. It seems like time just sort slips by and before I know it, four months has passed and I haven't updated my website with new things!
I have some plans for this year and one of them is to at least do one gouache illustration a month, no matter how big or small. I had another couple of projects I've been working on that took up more of my time in January than I planned, but I did manage to do an illustration for the month.
To go along with my other mushroom sprites and my general like of painting mushrooms, I painted blue-green fungus cups with a little blue-green mushroom sprite on a rotting pine bark piece. I really tried to think of my values as colors for this piece and keep the amount of colors I used pretty minimum. I think I used five colors in total along with white to paint the piece. I think I did a good job capturing the textures of the mushrooms and especially the wood. It felt good to paint again as my other projects have been involving a lot of computer work and I don't have a lot that I can share from it.
I'm really going to try to post here at least once a month, if nothing else to at least post the one illustration I have at least done for the month. Not sure yet what I'm going to do for February, but we'll see what we do!
Starting to get some cons as well on my docket for this year, so please look for me again at Wicked West Comic Expo in Loveland in April and my first out of state con in Cheyenne, Wyoming called Cheyenne Gaming Con at the end of April! I hope I do well at both. Till next time!
